May 1st. A miserable, stormy day. Thick fog all the way to the Pennsylvania border. Bad flooding everywhere...swollen rivers overflowing their banks. Once we arrived in Pennsylvania, the weather cleared. When I left the station in Philadelphia it was to see blue skies and feel warm weather for the first time in months. Ashley met me at my hotel which is two blocks from her apartment and we went to lunch at Parc on Rittenhouse Square. Very Parisian...we ate outside and watched the world go by. I had a delicious croque madame which I had not eaten in years. Then it was back to Ashley and Scott's apartment to meet Jack, my great-nephew. What a sweetie! Three months old and getting ready to crawl and investigate everything. Burbling and gurgling and smiling. What a lovely afternoon! After we fed him, read him "Goodnight NOLA" ( why not start early!) and Anita, the nanny, put him to bed, we went to a terrific Mexican restaurant where Scott met us. He has late hours on Thursdays, so I wasn't able to see him with Jack.
