Today, we went to the farm for lunch with Wayne and family. David and family joined us. Before lunch, David took us on a game drive to find the blesbuck – another antelope indigenous to the open veldt. Aren’t they gorgeous? Their name comes from the white patch on their foreheads (bles means blaze in Afrikaans, buck means antelope). The females and calves were skittish and guarded by a couple of young rams who positioned themselves at either end of the herd. The older rams gathered in another area – on their own until they are next “needed”. Hahaha.
Then we settled down to another wonderful meal…I’m bringing home some of the recipes. Then it was time for photos and goodbyes. I leave tomorrow to return to Pretoria for my last 3 days in South Africa.
Back and Ray and Koekie’s we had our drinks outside,as we have every night, snacking on peanuts and biltong (dried beef or antelope)…..no second meal for us after those lunches. It is very peaceful watching night fall – no spectacular African sunsets because of the rain and clouds. Last night, we stayed so late we watched the bats come out.
Bau and I are delighted that you are safe and sound in Paris. Bau is well and runs to meet me at the sound of the key in the lock now - we are great buddies. Snow and cold but we are used to it, can you mention in your blog when you will return? We can't wait to see you. Enjoy Paris and that fab hotel, love Marion and Bau xo
