Washington, DC May 3, 2014

After a late breakfast, we set off for Eastern Market...on foot.  I took my cane and managed very well.  A gorgeous warm day...everything in bloom...blue skies...and wonderful booths at the market.  After a nice little nap while John was slaving away in the kitchen, guests arrived for dinner: Tony, whom I had met before, and Jeff and Ellen.  John made a delicious three course meal: Asian salad with shrimp, roasted vegetables and toasted tofu; marinated barbecued butterflied leg of lamb, quinoa and sautéed Chinese spinach; rhubarb and custard in puff pastry.  And, let's not forget the crispy rosé and the Châteauneuf du pape.  A delightful evening.
